Using Your Card

Try our Express Readers! Seven-day Checkout. No Reserves. No Renewals. No Waiting Lists! Available at all Mesa libraries.
 

Borrowing Materials
  • The maximum number of items allowed out on a card at any one time is 25. There is no limit to the number of materials on the same subject.

  • Items check out for 3 weeks with the exception of the Express Reader items and some audiovisual items. Express Reader items are checked out for one week, with no renewals and no reserves. Audiovisual items designated with a "7-day" sticker check out for one week only.

  • Please review our loan periods and fines.


 

Renewing Materials

All library materials, except Express Readers, are renewable twice, as long as no one has placed a hold on the item. To renew you will need your library card number and a personal identification number (PIN). You may get a PIN at any Check Out desk.

Library patrons are allowed to renew materials by the following ways:

  • Renewing by Online Catalog (click here to view an online tutorial)
    Please follow these instructions to renew your materials using our online catalog:

    • Go to our web site at http://www.mesalibrary.org

    • Click on the Catalog tab located at the top of the screen.

    • Click on the button to enter the library catalog.

    • Click on the My Account tab across the top of the screen.

    • Type in your Library card number and PIN.

    • Click on Login.

    • In your Items Checked Out list, click once on the checkbox next to the item you want to renew to put a checkmark in the box.

    • Click on the Renew button at the top of the screen.

    • If your renewal is successful, your new due date will be listed in the Items Checked Out list.

    • To protect your privacy, logout of iPac using the Logout link at upper right-hand corner of the screen.
       

  • Renewing by Telecirc
    Telecirc is an automated telephone system you can use to call the library to get information regarding your library record, such as the number and titles of books checked out, fines and holds ready for pickup. It will call you about overdue items and holds ready for pickup.  How to use Telecirc.
  • Renewing by Telephone
    Please have your library card number ready. Account information will not be given out over the telephone without a library card number.

  • Renewing in-person
    Present your library card at the Check Out desk at any of the three Mesa Libraries during regular hours of operation.


 

Placing an Item on Hold (click here for an online tutorial)

You may have up to 10 items placed on your hold list at any one time. Items may be placed on hold by a number of methods:

  1. In-person at the Ask Here or Check Out desk.
  2. Telephone: (480) 644-3100. Please have your library card number ready.
  3. Any of the library computers or your home/office computer. PIN required.

The Library will notify you when the item is available for pick up. The item will be held for nine days at the Check Out of the library branch you specify. Please remember you must bring the library card on which you placed the hold in order to pick up any hold item.

We can notify you of items on hold by email. Please ask at the Check Out desk if you wish to be notified by email.

You may not place a hold on our web site on an item if it is "checked in" at any of our library locations. Please call the library to request items that are checked in.

PIN - Personal Identification Number
How to get a PIN
  • PINs can only be issued in person at the library.
  • Come to the Check Out desk of any Mesa Public Library. Click here for library locations.
  • You will need your Mesa library card and some identification.
  • You choose your PIN. Please pick a number that will be easy for you to remember.
  • Your PIN must be numerals only, 4 digits long.
  • After you have been issued a PIN, you can change your PIN on our website. Here are instructions on how to change your PIN, or view the online tutorial.
  • If you have forgotten your PIN, you will need to bring your library card and identification to the Check Out desk of the library to be reminded of your PIN.
  • We cannot issue or remind you of your PIN via email or telephone.
What you can do with your PIN
  • Access your library card information by telephone or on our web site.
  • Access the 40+ Article and Information databases available on our web site.
  • Use the Internet at any of our libraries for one hour per day.

Please Note: If you have questions about your library card record, please call (480) 644-2723. To protect your privacy, we do not answer questions relating to your library card record via email. Please have your library card number ready when you call.
