How do I get a book that is currently checked in
transferred to my local branch?
You may call the library to have an item
transferred from one library location to another for pick up. Simply
call the library location of your choice with the book information
and your Mesa library card number, or request the item via the
catalog online.

Is there a charge to place a hold?
There is no charge to place a hold. However, if
you do not pick up an item that has been held for you, a 50 cent
charge will be added to your account.
You can avoid this fee in the following ways:
1. Pick up your item within seven days
Avoid this fee by picking up your item within the seven days as
indicated in your notice.
If you cannot pick up an item or no longer need an item, you must
cancel your hold to avoid this fee.
2. Cancel your hold
a. If the hold is waiting for pick up:
Call the library location where the item is waiting during normal
library hours and ask our staff to cancel your hold.
b. If the item is not in for you yet, but it is
still on your holds list:
There are two ways to cancel a hold that has not come in for you
yet:
1. Call us and we will cancel it for you. We will need your library
card number.
2. Go to our web site, www.mesalibrary.org
a. Click on “Login to My Account” on the home page. You must know
your library card number and PIN.
b. Click the patron account tab
c. Click Requests to see your current requests.
d. Click in the box next to the title you want to cancel to place a
checkmark.
e. Then click on “Cancel Selected.”
3. Suspend your holds list while you are out
of town
You can suspend a hold without losing your place in line while you
are gone. There are two ways to suspend a hold while you are out of
town.
1. Call us at (480) 644-3100 and we will suspend it for you. We will
need your library card number.
2. Go to our web site, www.mesalibrary.org
a) Click on “Login to My Account” on the home page. You must know
your library card number and PIN.
b) Go to your Holds Requests list.
c) Click in the box next to the title you want to make “inactive.”
d) Then click on “Suspend/Reactivate Selected.”
e) Type in your new Activation Date
f) The Status column will change to “Inactive.” until
the date specified.
When you get back from vacation, simply follow the steps again, and
the status will change to “Active.”
