Interlibrary Loan Policy

1. Mesa Public Library will loan to other libraries any circulating item that is on the shelf when the request is made.

2. Mesa Public Library loans books, magazines, audio books, DVDs, video recordings, interactive media, audiovisual kits and photocopies of periodical articles. The Library does not loan Reference materials, microforms, music CDs, or archival materials, such as those housed in the Mesa Room or the Arizona Museum of Natural History.

3. Patrons requesting that an item be borrowed for them in the interlibrary loan system must have a current Mesa Public Library card and be in good standing with the Library.

4. Patrons may have a total of three (3) active borrowing requests at any one time. This includes requests that may be in process or those that have been received.

5. There is an overdue charge of $1.00 per day for overdue materials. There is a 50-cent fee for items received but not picked up. Materials borrowed through Interlibrary Loan may be returned to any Mesa Public Library location, but they must not be returned in the book drop. Patrons must return materials at the Circulation Desk at any Mesa Public Library branch. In addition, patrons must return items with borrowing labels attached - labels are needed to clear the patron's account.

6. Patrons must adhere to any special restrictions of the lending library, such as using materials in the library, not making photocopies, not renewing materials, special loan periods, etc. Patrons are responsible for damage or loss of materials that they have checked out via interlibrary loan.

7. Interlibrary loan materials may not be renewed, and due dates may not be extended. Due dates are firm.
