Open Shelf
Book Review Newsletter of the Main Library Young Adult Advisory Council
Dear Readers,
Over the years, YAAC has been a creative outlet for
many teens who love reading, literature, and
culture. As YAAC members, we have reviewed thousands
of books, almost 100 movies, concerts, restaurants,
and events. We’ve gone to some Comicons, eaten lunch
together, seen some matinees, and eaten somewhere
near a million pieces of candy at our meetings. I am
listing
these accomplishments and memories for one reason:
this will be the last published issue of Open Shelf.
As an Open Shelf editor, I have had a blast both
compiling and writing reviews. My fellow editors and
members of YAAC feel honored to have published Open
Shelf for so long, and we also feel very proud to
produce what we consider a product of our love and
care. Finally, YAAC could not continue to produce
Open Shelf without the unending support and
encouragement from the library staff. Karen
Peterson, our advisor, has been the most devoted and
positive force in what we do. So, to conclude, we
appreciate the support of everyone affiliated with
Open Shelf. We hope you enjoy your holiday season
and please be sure to keep on reading.
Cordially yours,
Ashley Mentzer
